Virtual Opening Reception and Artists Talk
The LGBTQ+ WAE group gathers on the third Tuesday of each month to explore, learn, and commune with one another. The group welcomes visiting activists and educators, art tours, and learning opportunities for a group of individuals who recognize one another as fellow community members. This exhibit is one of the highpoints of our calendar year, where we invite others to bring their ideas and art to our communal table.
This year the focus is on portraiture and self-identity. Each of us work to understand who we are, where we want to be and where we might belong. Considering our identities and pondering our reflections is part and parcel of one’s lifelong journey. Some of the work submitted represents significant moments in an individual’s life, relationships, epiphanies or musings about where and how we fit into the world. Regardless of what story the artist is telling, this exhibit reminds us of the power of art to convey truth and connection.
