In Printmaking class with Onnie S., members recent

In Printmaking class with Onnie S., members recently created colorful mobiles made with collaged monotype prints on cardboard.

Onnie says, “At the WAE Center, we work to help people explore their talents and abilities in a physical and intellectual way; we also don’t like to waste anything.”

In that context, his class made colorful monoprints on Gelli plates while learning the principles of color mixing and design. The monoprints that would not be used for member’s portfolios were collected to create collages on corrugated cardboard. Members used wire, colorful art yarns and pieces cut up from the collages to make the colorful and whimsical mobiles which now hang by the windows found in the Maker’s studio.

In Sculpture Explorations class with Art Facilitat

In Sculpture Explorations class with Art Facilitator, Esther, members worked for several weeks gessoing, painting and decorating cardboard shapes. They used a variety of tools including forks, knives and jar lids. Members chose the spots where they wanted to add their pieces to the sculpture as it grew and grew into the piece you see here!

Last week, the Tech Lit class gave a presentation about various social media topics they have been researching.

Tech Lit is a class which focuses on technological literacy and features independent and collaborative activities on and off of the computers.

Members have been learning about hardware, software, the history of the internet, online safety, search engines and much more.
