Gigi F. began dedicating time to her painting, drawing and photography in 2022. She enjoys using and trying different mediums such as markers, oil pastels, charcoal and colored pencils. Gigi expresses, “Making art makes me feel good inside and relaxed.” She is excited seeing how her artwork progresses over time and shares that the way she does her art inspires herself.
Gigi describes her work as “pretty” and explains that her drawings are abstract portraits of her life. She works on each piece anywhere from several weeks to a few months. She enjoys working in both larger and smaller sizes – an 18″x24″ drawing being her largest piece to date. Gigi hopes people feel happiness when they view her work.
When doing photography, Gigi uses an iPad which attaches to her wheelchair along with a remote shutter. While she often photographs her friends and people she appreciates, other times she enjoys going around the WAE Center to see what inspires her before capturing her images. Gigi likes to edit her images by changing colors and backgrounds, and also enjoys bringing multiple images together to create digital collages where her smaller images create a bigger image or idea.
Gigi also aspires to be a motivational speaker. She enjoys going out with friends and family and seeing live music. Gigi’s work has been shown at Heidi Gallery in Livingston, NJ.
