Grace S. has embraced the mosaic process using Perler beads. While initially starting with small, quick projects such as making items like coasters and earrings, Grace then began to explore creating representational images. She began with a self-portrait of herself with pink hair. She was very excited with the outcome and decided to continue making Perler bead mosaics of images that are personal to her.
She has worked on themes that include the firehouse near where she lived, a building that reminded her of the Barney Miller TV show and a house she would like to live in. She recently chose to depict one of her favorite TV shows “Family Matters” featuring the character, Urkel.
Grace also enjoys photography and has had work selected for local exhibitions.
Grace participates in the WAE to Work prevocational program, enjoys working and looks forward to helping others at the WAE Center.
