Kevin C.

KEVIN C. is a soft spoken artist who prefers to express himself with acrylic paints; he feels the colors are “nice and relaxed, they’re smooth”.  Kevin takes great pride in his painting and he has a set of art supplies at home so he can continue his artistic exploration outside of the Art Studio.  Kevin enjoys working with the Art Studio facilitators during his art sessions; he explains that there are times when he will work with Esther, and she’ll give him an idea to think about.  He says, “I like seeing that idea come out of me onto the canvas.”  He often finds inspiration for his abstract work from nature and various holidays.

He is an artist who lives in the moment.  When asked about how long he works on a piece, he responds, “… sometimes on Monday, I start a new one or I work on an old one.  It depends on how I feel.”  When asked what size canvas he likes working on, the answer is, “… sometimes big, sometimes small, and maybe sometimes medium.”  One thing always remains the same, he wants people who see his work to feel excited, especially his family.

Outside of his paintings, Kevin also enjoys participating in the Art Studio’s Cartoon Club and photography.  Other interests include the Yankees, and he thinks Theater Games is a “cool” class.  He especially enjoys music; he says, “I love music, most of the time 80’s music that you can dance to in nightclubs.”

Kevin also participates in our WAE to Sell class, a program that invites WAE center artists to learn how to sell their products online on the Redbubble platform.

I create art because it makes me feel good and happy about myself.
