LGBTQ+ Pride Month Art Exhibit – Call for Entries

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) Artists with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and LGBTQ+ Allies are encouraged to submit artworks for “The Art of Inclusion” – Pride exhibition in Summer 2021.

We are seeking artwork that expresses authentic and diverse viewpoints from the LGBTQ+ experience. Artists are encouraged to show us what being an LGBTQ+ person with IDD or ASD means to them and that expresses what their Pride looks like.

If you do not self-identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning or Intersex but are a Caregiver or an Ally and or are a person with IDD or ASD and adhere to the exhibition theme you may also submit artwork for consideration.

Virtual Exhibit: June 1st – August 1st, 2021

Entry Deadline: 4/2/21 **DEADLINE EXTENDED TO  5/15/21

Requirements

Total Entries Per Person – Maximum: 3

Entry Fee: There is no entry fee for The Art of Inclusion Pride Exhibition.  JSDD’s WAE Center, will act as the sales agent for any artwork submitted.  The WAE Center will receive 20% of the sales price from works sold through this exhibition to cover administrative costs.

Artists must submit at least one “Artist Statement” that explains the inspiration for their work(s).

Submissions must be the artist’s original work.

Categories Accepted

Fine Art: Painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, assemblage, collage, mixed media, jewelry, ceramics, sculpture, poetry, musical/audio recording.

This exhibition does not accept video, film, performance art, or installation art.

The use of any model for photography must be accompanied with a model release form (The WAE center can provided blank release forms upon request). Models must also be 18 years or older. Nude photography is not permitted for this exhibition.

Price

Artist will need to provide a sale price for each piece, considering that JSDD’s WAE Center will charge a 20% commission fee for each sold piece of art.

Artwork will be selected by a panel of jurors appointed by the WAE Center.

Use of Imagery

The WAE Center reserves the right to use artwork images from the exhibition for marketing and publicity without compensation to the artist. Artist credit will be given on any works used for marketing and publicity purposes.

Artist notification of acceptance: May 20th, 2021

Virtual Exhibit opens: June 1st, 2021

Artists Opening Reception via Zoom: June 8th, 2021 7:00 PM
