12th Annual Exhibit
NJ Medical School Collaborative Exhibit 2022

Exhibit Dates: June 23 – August 31

Let the halls…be decked out!

For the first time since 2019, the work of the artists from JSDD’s WAE Center and Matheny Arts Access will grace the walls of the NJ Medical School. There is no denying the vibrancy and power that art delivers to any space in which it is hung, and we are excited to bring that energy all who enter the halls of NJMS.

The featured artists have been busy working and creating throughout the pandemic. The practice of art, in all its forms, is transformative on many levels and we are thrilled to be able to transform the spaces at NJMS. People can visit the exhibit in person or take a virtual tour of this impressive body of work.

Rutgers NJMS – The Generous Host

The nation’s best medical schools are known for providing the highest quality medical education, research, patient services, and community outreach. At Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, these priorities are combined with a commitment to constant innovation and progress as we keep our mission, vision, and values in mind.

The Arts Access Program – The Inspired Collaborator

Since 1993, the Matheny Arts Access Program has been empowering artists with disabilities to create art without limits. A groundbreaking fine arts program, Arts Access utilizes innovative communication systems and techniques to empower artists to create in the visual, literary, and performing arts. Arts Access provides the traditional tools and materials needed to create art, along with one unique additional tool: a human being. Not just any human being, but a professional artist facilitator who is trained to be the arms and legs of the participating artist. Every choice comes from the participant, from paint color and brush stroke, to dance movement and theatrical staging, to each written word. On a daily basis, Arts Access fosters an environment of artistic freedom among its artists, and works to change perceptions about the capabilities and talents of people with disabilities.

Featured WAE Center Artists:

Angel M. | David L. | Dina L. | Gigi F. | Grace S. | Janet B. | Kari S. | Kevin C. | Kevin M. | Kimmy F. | Maria F. | Roland B. | Zak Z.
